How to use this site

  1. Go to Fedi.Garden’s front page and click on one of the buttons (Topics, Countries, Languages or Server Type) to choose the kind of server list you want to browse.
  2. To find out more about a particular server, click its link to open its website. Once you’re on the site, if you’re using a phone click the ⋯ icon on the right, and if you’re on a computer click the “Learn More” link on the left. These will show you information about the server including its rules. Also click the “👥 Local” link on the right to see the server’s public posts, as it will give you an idea of the kind of people on that server.
  3. Don’t worry if a server only has a small number of people on it. There are millions of members in total spread across tens of thousands of servers, all linked together into a single network. You can follow and interact with people on other servers from whichever server you sign up on.
  4. If you want to sign up, click the site’s “Create Account” link (some servers might use a different phrase). This may let you sign up straight away, or you may need to wait for the server’s owner to approve your application. Once you’ve registered successfully, you can use the same account to sign in on compatible apps too.

Note that you can only use your account on the server you signed up on. However, the servers talk to each other so you can follow and interact with people on other servers from your server. Most conversations on the Fediverse happen between people on different servers.

Don’t worry too much about which server to pick, on Mastodon (and some other server types) you can always move your account to another server and take all your follows and followers with you ⧉.
